About Meridian

Built by people
who kept running
out of studio.

Meridian Studios opened because one room was never going to be enough — different work needs a different space, so we built three.

The Idea

Why one studio wasn't enough

Meridian Studios started as a single daylight room and a lot of borrowed lighting gear. Every job that came in wanted something a little different — a couple wanting soft, natural portraits; a brand wanting hard-edged, controlled product shots; a director wanting a set that simply didn't exist yet. Trying to make one room do all three never quite worked.

So instead of compromising, we built three rooms — the Solarium for daylight work, the Blackbox for full lighting control, and the Backlot for anything that needs building from scratch. One address, three completely different studios.

How We Work

Standard sessions, and the ones nobody's built before

Most days we're shooting portraits, weddings and commercial work across the three rooms exactly as they stand. But the Backlot exists specifically for the requests that don't fit a standard session — a themed set, a specific commercial look, a build nobody else has quoted for. That work is never priced off a rate card; it's scoped properly, every time.

Whichever space you book, the same crew handles lighting, styling and the shoot itself — so a custom-built Backlot session gets the same attention to detail as a standard portrait sitting in the Solarium.

What Matters To Us
01

Right space, right shoot

We'll always tell you honestly which room suits your brief best — even if that means talking you out of the one you asked for.

02

Quotes, not guesswork

Custom builds are scoped properly before you commit to anything. No surprise costs on shoot day.

03

One crew, start to finish

The people who scope your build are the same people lighting and shooting it — nothing gets lost in handover.
